JALANDHAR – The release of Punjabi film “Jugni hath kise na auni”, starring druglord Jagdish Bhola and drug-lord-cum-Akali leader and singer KS Makhan, which was scheduled to release this Friday, has been put off.

While Makhan and producer of the film Jagseer Sidhu have been already facing summons from the Enforcement Directorate, it has now met another hurdle as the film is yet to get clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification.

All posters and publicity material printed by the company is showing the release of the film for February 17 with film actors, including Nakodar-based former Kabaddi player Mani Kular, too being unaware of the hurdle. “There should be no reason for the delay. It is to be released this Friday for sure,” he said.

However, Sidhu clarified, “Our film is still lined up for clearance from the censor board. We somehow wanted the film to get released when the code of conduct is still on, so as to have more impact. The film has all the masala – use of drugs, black money and political patronage. We have even portrayed two Punjab ministers in the film. We will give another date for the release soon.”

About the role of Bhola, who features as a jail inmate in the promos with number 333 on his jail uniform, Bathinda-based Sidhu shared, “He is in a villainous role. We began shooting in 2012 when there was no controversy related to Bhola. Even the ED has a hunch that Bhola’s drug money could have been used for this film. But I have appeared before the ED, submitted most documents and clarified all issues. Besides me, KS Makhan and Gurpreet Singh Sidhu too were summoned from among the film crew. They too have been giving their statements.”
