“We deplore this hateful column and call on The Link to immediately remove it from online, publish a retraction, and issue an apology. It does the Indo-Canadian community, which has been and remains such a valuable contributor to Canada, no credit for one of its key community newspapers to be spreading such disturbing lies, including antisemitic conspiracy theories.
“Among many distasteful corruptions of history, this article uses historic antisemitic accusations – including the depiction of the Jewish people as power-hungry, and even a disease – to attack the world’s only Jewish state and its supporters. This is an alarming example of the convergence of anti-Zionism and antisemitism, starkly displayed as a leading editorial in a Canadian newspaper.”

I was shocked to read the LINK, a leading Indo-Canadian newspaper, a recent editorial by Dr. Sawraj Singh (January 7). This piece makes a number of wild accusations and statements that are deeply hurtful to our friends in the Jewish community. I was particularly saddened to see Zionism (the belief that Jewish people have a right to statehood in their historic homeland) referred to as “cancer” and the accusation that American Jews monopolize key professional positions and distort American government policies in the process.
I cherish the fact that our two communities enjoy a great relationship both here and overseas. Perhaps nothing represents this better than the fact that a Jewish Indian Lieutenant General JFR, who served as Governor of Punjab from 1999-2003. It was with a mind for the longstanding goodwill we share, especially minority communities in Canada, that I was upset to read such a hateful statement against Jews in a major Indo-Canadian newspaper. I’m hopeful that The LINK will think twice before printing such columns in the future.

Dr. Singh forgot to mention that EVERYONE knows that we Jews also drain the blood of Christian and Sikh children for use in our Passover Matzohs. Dr. Singh, you can’t keep important information like that from your readers.
My late mother survived Auschwitz, where most of her extended family did not. A third of our people were butchered precisely because of these kinds of attitudes.
Thankfully, today we have our country called Israel where we can for the first time in centuries, fight back against evil like this.

In defence of Dr. Singh’s article you noted that ‘Jewish groups do get more play in the mainstream media.” We whisper the very same thoughts in our homes.
Mr. Dhillon, Canadians today live in fear of expressing an opinion. Powerful groups stand ready to terrorize us with accusations of ‘raising historical anti-Semitic arguments’.

The column by Mr. singh was highly offensive to about 70% of Canadians. All Biblical Christians are Zionists! Our Bible states very clearly that God Almighty will bring the Jews back to their homeland of Israel in the last days. Israel IS their land . (2) Capitalism means freedom, period. (3) My relatives came to Canada fleeing persecution and a chance for a better life. We are not the dregs of Europe but rather the best of Europe. Christian( protestant) and Jewish scientists make up about 60% of all inventions that benefit mankind. This newspaper owes Canadians an apology now!!
