While US and its financially-strapped western allies are hell bent on more turmoil and bloodshed in the middle east with the latest flashpoint being Syria – Russia is playing the peacemaker, on Tuesday winning a promise from Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to bring an end to bloodshed. But Western and Arab hawkish states acted to isolate Assad by refusing to find middle ground.
