Sacred Text Exhibition Held In Maple Ridge

Religion is ubiquitous in human  culture and  history and  culture is an inseparable part of religion. Each year enormous scholarly study and academic  research  works are being carried out on religious issues  and texts. It helps to empirically assess the belief systems  and review the existing traditions. Although atheism and agnosticism are constantly creating noises but the popularity, power and effect of religion remain unquestionable. It is look upon as a source of stimulation and direction. No doubt, it is also the main cause  of  hatred , cruelty, violence and confrontation around the world. Despite all its problem, it is still practiced by ninety percent people on earth.

The Building Interfaith Bridges Association of  Maple Ridge organized  an event on -“Sacred Text”,  at Maple Ridge Public Library on December 3, 2014 in which leaders of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Unitarianism and Baha’i displayed  the copies of their basic scriptures and books on their religions. All the religions of the world are based upon their basic scriptures which provide the guidelines, and inspirations to their   followers how practice their lives to attain peace , happiness,  prosperity and salvation.

Ground breaking and fascinating facts are brought out  by these religious  texts  which assist the believers in leading their lives smoothly. Facts are sacred  and astonishing revelations are the light posts  that lead people to a righteous path.

Modern technological tools- internet, electronic links etc. , have opened the flood gates  of information. All the religious text books can be electronically  easily  accessed now. Those who are still interested  to get a book then they can get a soft cover, hard cover or paper back books  in the market. The translation in other languages  of religious  texts are available but to find an authentic work is not at all easy one task.

Facts and figures -the data of religions is  available and social, political and religious policies and programs may be formulated  to suit the needs of society, community  and country. There is a need to cultivate and propagate the basic value systems of all religions- peace, universal brotherhood, mutual respect and harmony.

The event was coordinated by Bob Russell and  Jasper Des Roches, Acharya S.P.Dwivedi, John Slattery, Ahmed Ayousef, Herbert Cruz, Avxnum Cojti, Soraya Mahajari and Darlene Dreger displayed books of their religions. A significant number of curious on lookers visited the tables.
