“We are in the early stages of the investigation and trying to determine what occurred at the intersection in Maple Ridge.  Early indications are this is not gang related, ” said Corporal Adam MacIntosh of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

Krishna, 36, died from stab wounds early Sunday morning, around 2:30 a.m. after a fight on McIntosh Avenue near 223rd Street, reported Ridge-Meadows News.

“We continue to encourage anyone with information relating to this homicide to contact police,” said m MacIntosh.

“The next of kin notification was conducted yesterday, so his mother was informed on Mother’s Day. That’s sad.”

Ridge Meadows RCMP were called to Ridge Meadows Hospital after Krishna was rushed there by ambulance, suffering from serious injuries.

The investigation eventually lead police to an apartment building on McIntosh Ave., but police have yet to reveal how the building relates to the homicide.

Police won’t reveal the motive behind the stabbing and would not confirm that if drugs were being trafficked from the apartment where a search warrant was executed following the stabbing.

The fight took place on the street said Cpl. MacIntosh, adding that the information about the apartment is not something investigators are willing talk about at the moment.

Investigators remained at the apartment on Monday morning.

“We want to be cautious about what we share,” said Cpl. MacIntosh.

“We want to make sure we find everything and we want to be able to tell the story of what occurred as best as possible from a forensic perspective.”

Court records show Krishna has an extensive criminal history, with convictions for assault, assault with a weapon, robbery and theft that date back to 1996.

He also appeared on B.C.’s annual list of “most wanted” car thieves at least twice.
