Students from Dr. Jason Brown’s Humanities 130 class at Simon Fraser University , led by Dr. Brown, visited Gurdwara Nanak Niwas on Saturday, December 16. This course deals with Introduction to Faiths of the World. Richmond’s #5 Road, aka Highway to Heaven is a very popular place to learn about different religions. Their trip started with a visit to Gurdwara Nanak Niwas. On behalf the Gurdwara Management Committee it was an honour for me to welcome them to the Gurdwara and talk about the Sikh religion , culture and the South Asian community. It generated a very good discussion. After the tour of the Gurdwara and a very enjoyable discussion about Sikhism, the students and Dr. Brown enjoyed a very delicious vegetarian lunch (langar). Before moving on to the Az-Zahraa Shia Islamic Community Mosque next door they thanked the management for a very warm welcome. Balwant Sanghera
