VERNON – Jai Singh Sanghera, 13, won a Silver Medal at the BC Winter Games last weekend.  After winning a series of Gold medals in other tournaments he was on his way to another first place.  He won four out of his five matches but lost one by a small margin and thus had to settle for Silver.

Sanghera took up Karate at the age of seven at the Burnaby Karate Academy under the watchful eye of Sensei Sandeep S. Gill.  Besides Karate, he is also a passionate soccer player.  He trains at the TSS Soccer Academy and plays in the U14 division for the South Burnaby Metro Club.

The next goal for this aspiring athlete is the 2013 Canadian National Championships in Toronto.  The Nationals are for athletes that are over fourteen years of age.
