South Asian Community Gala Raises$369,000 For BC Children’s Hospital

VANCOUVER – A South Asiancommunity fronted Gala broughtout 400 guests last Saturday at BCChildren’s Hospital Foundation’sA Night of Miracles gala at theVancouver Marriott PinnacleDowntown raised more than$369,000 to support the constructionof a new BC Children’sHospital.”I’m proud that through A Nightof Miracles, the South Asiancommunity is making a significantdifference in the wellbeingof BC’s children,” said RobinDhir, the gala’s founding chair. “Ibelieve we have an obligation tohelp present and future generationsof children get the best possiblehealth care and I thank the manypeople and businesses who have supportedthis gala.”A Night of Miracles, the only black-tiegala in BC’s South Asian community, hasraised $1.5 million toward the SouthAsian community’s pledge of $3 millionto the hospital foundation’s Campaignfor BC Children and, specifically, to supportthe construction of an interventionalradiology room in the new hospital.”Donors and events like A Night ofMiracles are making the construction ofa new BC Children’s Hospital possible,”said Teri Nicholas, president and CEO ofBC Children’s Hospital Foundation.”The generosity of members of theSouth Asian community shows just howimportant child health is to everyone inthis province.”Interventional radiology combines theuse of different types of imaging equipmentand narrow tubes, or catheters, forminimally invasive care.
