Sukhbir Says Govt Will Probe Bhola’s Charges

BATHINDA – Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal said the Director General of Police (DGP) had been directed to probe the allegations levelled by arrested druglord Jagdish Bhola. He had alleged that he was being harassed by the staff at Nabha Jail.

Sukhbir further said the government had taken steps to ensure the safety of women. He had arrived to lay the foundation stone of a building of Bathinda Zila Parishad. The new building will be constructed at a cost of Rs 13.16 crore. Sukhbir had arrived over an hour late at the site.

On the damage to agricultural fields in the state following the recent rain, the Deputy CM said the state had sought Rs 3,600 crore as compensation from the Centre.

Later, Sukhbir visited the state-level SARAS (Sale of Articles of Rural Artisans Society) Mela. He was accompanied by Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mantar Brar, Bathinda MLA Sarup Chand Singla, IG (counter intelligence) Jatinder Jain, Deputy Commissioner Dr Basant Garg, Senior Superintendent of Police Indermohan Bhatti, Additional DC Varinder Sharma and District Development Panchayat Officer Rajinder Batra.
