Surrey Election A Wake-Up Call For The Community!

Dear Editor,

This is a municipal election year and it’s time we raise issues that affect our community. There are several issues that impact the overall community including:

•             Truck Parking

•             Seniors Housing

•             Transportation

•             Bilingual Teachers for Children

•             Social Services

•             Crime Reduction

At times, it seems that certain individuals are only concerned with about their own personal gains, when they should really start focusing on the good of the collective community.

We have to start working together in unity so we can raise our voice to the political parties that are running for office. We all know that politicians make many promises, but it’s our responsibility to hold them accountable to make sure they meet the demands of the people.

It seems that many candidates are running who don’t necessarily qualify for the position and the work that needs to be done. As the community, we have to pay attention to those who are capable of getting the job done. I encourage everyone to keep an eye on the second generation individuals who are bilingual, articulate and have the best interest of the overall community at heart. These can be the potential leaders in the future.

I encourage everyone to vote in the upcoming municipal elections, on November 15 to hold the voted party accountable to their promises.
