SUVA – The search for the Miss India Fiji Pageant begins. Yesterday pageant director Aliyah Jan, Miss India Fiji 2009 Naziah Ali and Fiji Fashion Week director Ellen Whippy were chief guests at the Rishikul Sanatan College fashion show.

Ali said the goal of the pageant was to promote the Fijian culture and celebrate the Indian diaspora around the world.

She said such shows were an ideal opportunity to identify girls who could participate in the event. Ali said being a student and unemployed should not stop them from taking part in the pageant.

“Everything will be provided to you by the Miss India Fiji committee and because you think you’re still a student and you can’t afford the clothes and make-up does not mean you can’t compete,” Ali added.

The world’s only cultural pageant will be affiliated by TappooCity on September 15.
