Toronto police disciplinary officer Riyaz Hussain charged with impaired driving

TORONTO: A high-ranking officer with the Toronto Police Service has been charged with impaired driving after a crash in Pickering, Ontario.

Superintendent Hussein has 33 years of service and was assigned to the Disciplinary Hearings Office. He has been Suspended with pay.

Superintendent Riyaz Hussein, 54, was charged by the Ontario Provincial Police for over 80 mgs Operation of a motor vehicle, careless driving and having care or control of a motor vehicle with open liquor.

It is alleged that on January 13, 2022, at approximately 7 p.m., he was travelling eastbound on Highway 401 through the city of Pickering. The car collided with a vehicle travelling in the same direction. Responding officers believed the driver was impaired

The man was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Husseinis scheduled to appear in court on February 10, 2022, at 11:30 a.m., at 150 Bond Street, Oshawa, in 108 Court.

“The Toronto Police Service recognizes the public interest implicit in the Hearing Officer role and is releasing this information proactively to the public,” the Toronto police statement read.
