The model-actress had appeared in LIP’s previous shows and they decided to do a tribute to the young beauty who was murdered.
SURREY – On Saturday, October 15th, the organizers of Love Ishq Pyar Wedding Show paid tribute to slain model Maple Batalia.
Maple was a well-known model in the community and walked the runway many times in various wedding and fashion shows.
The Batalia family came out to the event and were presented with a Memory Book with condolences from attendees of the show. The event organizer Rina Gill, FB group organizers Romi Gill & Rajdeep Kohli, Batalia and Maples sister Roseleen, all said a few words on stage.
While the slideshow from Maple’s funeral was played for the audience, not a dry remained in the audience!

A Toronto-based performing arts company has also established a bursary to honour Batalia. The House of Kiran’s Maple Batalia Memorial Fund is to be awarded to a young woman of South Asian descent who is “passionate and dedicated to pursuing a career in the field of performing arts or acting,” the company says.

The deadline for applications is March 4, 2012, which would have been Batalia’s 20th birthday. The award will be presented to the chosen recipient on Sept. 28, the anniversary of her death.
