Two Farm Labourers Commit Suicide

TARN TARN – Two labourers allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in the past 24 hours.

In the first case, Gurpreet Singh (30) of Musa village in Mansa reportedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance this morning.

Avtar Singh, sarpanch, said: “Due to the damage to the cotton crop in the last season by whitefly attack, Gurpreet started working as a labourer. He was under a debt of Rs 1.5 lakh which he had taken from private money lenders.”

In another incident, Jagroop Singh (32) allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in village Chutala in Tarn Taran last night. He was depressed as he failed to repay his debt.

The Sadar police have lodged a report under Section 174 CrPC.
