Vigil For Air India Victims!

Vigils were organized by victims’ families and the Surrey Hindu temple for the 329 victims (for some reasons they didn’t include the 2 Japanese baggage handlers who died in Narita airport for a total of 331 victims) in the Air India tragedies on their 27th Anniversary when planes were blown up in Japan and one still in the air over the Irish coast in UK. Victims of this tragedy and those where innocent Sikhs died in New Delhi at the hands of the police and backed by officials of the Congress party as well as those innocents killed by the Indian army during their attack on the Golden temple should be remembered and the perpetrators condemned. But many Sikhs feel that while they remember both tragedies – some people in the local Indo-Canadian community are playing politics with the tragedy by remembering only the Air India victims – over 300 – but refusing to acknowledge India’s atrocities where thousands of innocent Sikhs were killed. This is not the way to create a harmonious community where Hindus-Sikhs and other religious groups can flourish together through respect. So stop playing politics with the tragedies and acknowledge all innocent lives lost and not just those in the Air India tragedy.
