VANCOUVER – Canadians havelong been saying that cell phone companiesare robbing us behind and anew poll confirms that there is littlecompetition in Canada.So who’s really on our sidewhen it comes to thedebate over competition inthe wireless industry?A new survey finds mostBritish Columbians thinkno one is, reports News1130. “Seventy-one percent of BC residents say that theywant to see more competition. Veryfew of them consider that there is toomuch competition right now,” saysMario Canseco with Insights West.But he notes only half want a foreigncarrier to enter the market.”Although there is a lot of appetite tohave more competition, it’s just notsomething that is resonating with alot of BC residents right now, thatthey want to see somebodyfrom the outside coming inand basically becoming thisfourth carrier.”The poll also shows manyBritish Columbians don’tbelieve that government orthe big wireless companieshave our best interests atheart. “Twenty-one per cent believethe federal government will be thischampion. One in 10 think the wirelessindustry, but we do see 69 percent of BC residents who do not [seeeither of them being] their champions,”says Canseco.
