“I hope that Mr. Bloy’s removal from cabinet does not distract from the real issue, which is the apparently close relationship between the Eminata Group and Liberal government,” said John Cummins, Leader of British Columbia’s Conservatives. “The Founder of the Eminata Group is a prominent Liberal donor and apparently has received government documents from a Liberal cabinet minister, what else has been communicated? Have any other documents been shared? This is further proof that this government is run for the benefit of insiders, cronies and corporate donors. A new BC Conservative government would close the door on special interests and ban corporate and union donations.”

VICTORIA – Incompetent and labelled “Loser Minister” whom friend Premier Christy Clark forgave for all his blundering and installed him (as a clear insult to the ethnic communities) as a Minister of Multiculturalism – Harry Bloy was forced to resigned from the BC Liberal cabinet forwarding a Province newspaper email sent to the Ministry of Advanced Education, which for some reason forwarded it to Bloy, to the company that the newspaper was investigating over questionable business practises of operating lucrative schools for foreign students .

Bloy, who was the only MLA to support Clark (a clear sign that when it comes to incompetence – she is not too far behind Bloy), forwarded the email to a known BC Liberal party donour to obviously make it aware that the newspaper was snooping around about the company.

This may not be illegal (though it should be as what business does a government ministry have being the agents of questionable private companies) but it clearly shows that the BC Liberals are morally and ethically bankrupt and after the whole illegal Basi-Virk bribe case – the party sees this as business as usual and probably kind of fun thing!

The Province had sent the email to the Ministry of Advanced Education seeking comment on Eminata, a company run by  founder Peter Chung, a frequent donor to the B.C. Liberal Party.

Clark was quick to defend Bloy, saying his actions were inappropriate, but not criminal.

But the Opposition New Democrats are also demanding the resignation of Advanced Education Minister Naomi Yamamoto for her ministry’s decision to share the email with Bloy.

And the BC Conservatives are demanding an inquiry into this sordid affair.

Have any other documents been shared?”

“This is further proof that this government is run for the benefit of insiders, cronies and corporate donors. A new BC Conservative government would close the door on special interests and ban corporate and union donations.”

Province reporter Cassidy Olivier, who was doing a series of reports on the Eminata Group, had sent an email to the ministry of advanced education seeking comment on Eminata Group founder Peter Chung. Bloy forwarded that email to Eminata, a provider of post-secondary education at six for-profit schools in B.C. that was being investigated by The Province.

NDP leader Adrian Dix pressed the government in Question Period on Bloy’s motivation for alerting Eminata about the Province investigation, but the government wasn’t forthcoming.

NDP MLA John Horgan called on Naomi Yamamoto, the minister of advanced education, to resign as well. Hers was the ministry to which the Province email was initially addressed.

Bloy, the MLA for Burnaby-Lougheed, was not in the Legislature during Question Period and did not attend a government caucus meeting earlier in the day.

In the past week, The Province has reported on court documents from the Superior Court of California dating back to the early 1990s. In those documents, it was alleged Chung and his companies (Wilshire Computer College) had committed more than 10,000 violations of state business code, including misleading students on employment opportunities and the school’s accreditation.

The school was ordered closed and Chung, who never admitted to wrongdoing, was fined $12 million. Chung founded the Eminata Group, an education conglomerate worth millions, in Vancouver about two years later.

“I never admitted to wrongdoing — to this day I don’t,” he told The Province when interviewed as part of an investigation into student complaints at three of Eminata’s B.C. schools — University Canada West, Vancouver Career College and CDI College.

During that same interview, Randy Cox, Eminata’s president and CEO, was seen to be in possession of a printout of the email sent to the ministry of advanced education by The Province.

Asked how he came to be in possession of it, Cox replied: “People care about what we do.” This is how friends of BC Liberals talk to the media, we presume!
