TROY – Dasvandh Network (DVN) is about to launch the fourth annual week of giving, DasvandhWeek (November 12th- 20th), via online donations (www.dvnetwork.org) or in Gurdwaras throughout the country.
Over the past 3 DasvandhWeeks’, with the help of DVN’s generous donor community and Guru’s Kirpa, $400,000 was raised to power the Panth. DVN will not only be matching donations again but inviting their donors to share with the community what their “ten” supports. These projects highlight DVN’s commitment to important issues and other Sikh causes including: Health, Human Rights, Education, Service, Advocacy, Camps & Retreats, Public Relations, Preserving Sikh History, Civil Rights and many more initiatives.
“My TEN supports Preserving Sikh History, I’m supporting the 1984 Living History Project, so that we can commemorate the voices of 1984.” shares Tejpreet Kaur, DVN Donor.
DVN credits their fundraising success to the generous community of donors that have helped them grow as an organization. This growth has created a positive impact for not only organizations but individuals looking to share their passion with a larger audience that may not have had the means to otherwise without utilizing the DVN platform.
Rahuldeep Gill was up against a deadline and a lack of funds to get his first book published. In just a week, DVN donors fully funded his project to complete the final stages of his book, Drinking From Love’s Cup: the Vars of Bhai Gurdas. Like his project, DVN’s platform showcases over 60 projects that are seeking funds from donors. As DVN has learned from past years, recurring donations help sustain larger initiatives and helps move the Panth forward.
“DasvandhWeek is meant to serve as a reminder to reflect on our opportunity and responsibility to give back. We should ask ourselves and our friends, our sangat “How can we do more?” This year I hope we can come together as a community to share the causes we are passionate about and encourage others to bring the practice of Dasvandh into our daily practice” says Amrit Kaur, Executive Director of Dasvandh Network.
DVN is a not-for-profit, grassroots, crowdfunding platform that allows donors and causes to actively participate in the spirit of Dasvandh—the Sikh practice of contributing one-tenth of a person’s earnings to the common good of the community. DVN seeks to inspire giving not only during DasvandhWeek but all year-round by encouraging donors to give a portion of their salaries on an ongoing basis.
