10 People Have Died In Just 24 Hours On Thursday And Friday!

Thursday morning, three people died in a head-on crash in foggy conditions on Highway 97 near Quesnel. Five people died in two separate crashes near Fort St. John Thursday afternoon.

VANCOUVER – It appears death is stalking BC roads as 20 people have died on the province’s highways and roads in the last week, 10 of them within the 24 hours on Thursday and Friday.

RCMP Corporal Jodie Shelkie says when police arrived at a two-vehicle crash on the Alaska Highway, the drivers and both passengers in each of the vehicles were dead.

An hour later, a 29-year-old man from Fort St. John was killed in a crash near the community.

A 23-year-old woman was taken to the hospital after a crash at Marshall Road and Horizon Street in Abbotsford and later died.

RCMP in Langley say a male driver was killed this morning when he was thrown from his vehicle during a rollover and police are also investigating the death of an 83-year-old man in a pedestrian accident.

Coroner Barb McLintock said Friday that investigations have yet to determine if weather conditions and impaired or distracted driving were involved in the carnage.
