NEW WESTMINSTER – OnNovember 16th, Guru Nanak’sFree Kitchen along with GurdwaraSahib Sukh Sagar is to jointly tohost a family cupcake baking eventby providing cupcakes to the residentsof various shelters in BritishColumbia’s Lower Mainland. This comeson the eve of the birthday of Sri GuruNanak Dev Ji, founder of the Sikh Faith.Over 1,000 residents in Abbotsford,Surrey, New Westminster and Vancouverare to be provided with freshly baked cupcakes.We welcome people of all races andbackgrounds to join us in this historicalfamily event and help us bake cupcakes,especially children who will have fundecorating the cup cakes. There will be ashort presentation of Guru Nanak’s messageof universal love and peace duringthe event.Over 200 people are expected to participate,and GNFK are encouraging peopleto take part in Guru Nanak’s birthdaycelebrations for a noble cause.This event is inspired by GuruNanak’s universal message of sharingwith those in need, meditating on godand earning a honest living. Guru Nanak(born in 1469) is the founder of Sikhismand is the first of the ten Sikh Gurus, theeleventh Guru being the living Guru, SriGuru Granth Sahib – SGGS (Sikh HolyScriptures). Guru Nanak travelled far andwide teaching people the message of OneGod who dwells in every one of god’screation and constitutes the eternal truth.He set up a unique spiritual, social andpolitical platform based on equality, fraternity,love, goodness and virtue.Guru Nanak’s Free Kitchen (GNFK)was formed by like minded volunteers inthe summer of 2007 who wanted to takeGuru Ka Langar to Vancouver’s DowntownEast Side in order to feed the needy.It now provides hundreds of hot mealsevery week at various locations.GNFK does not accept financialdonations and is not affiliated to any religious,political, corporate body and governmentorganization.
