Guru Nanak’s Free Kitchen Is Hosting Toys 4 Kids Drive

SURREY – Surrey-based GuruNanak’s Free Kitchen (GNFK)is hosting a Toys 4 Kids Driveon December 15th (Sunday) atthe Sikh Academy Surrey BC (2pm to 5 pm). Please seeattached poster.GNFK is a leading local BCbased volunteer based organisationthat serves those in need,which includes weekly fooddrives in Surrey (Whalley) andVancouver East Side. Theirpool of dedicated volunteerscome from different backgroundsand this forthcomingtoy drive is an example wherecommunities can come togetherin order to serve those inneed.The recipients of the toysinclude low income families, listsupplied by various shelters,school boards and local charities.”Our target is to collectbetween 800 to 1,000 toys, theresponse has been overwhelming”says Paul Hundle, theCoordinator of the event. “Weencourage families to join usand have fund in wrapping andorganising toys (gifts) thisSunday.The Sikh Academy, a Surreybased elementary school, isgrateful to be part of thishumbling event. ThePrincipal of the school,Baldeep Singh Hayre, “when we heard GNFK waslooking for a venue to hostthis event, we contactedone of their volunteers andimmediately offered ourfacility. They are a greatbunch of volunteers thatdo so much and yet arevery humble….. we congratulatethem for this endeavour.”Last month, GNFK baked over2,000 cup cakes at Sukh SagarGurdwara New West for sheltersacross the Lower Mainlandin celebration the birthday ofthe founder of the Sikh religion,Guru Nanak Dev ji.GNFK will have free pizzas,hot drinks, pakora’s for volunteersand their families, inc abouncy castle for kids to enjoy.”We welcome people of allcommunities to join us and helpus put a smile on kids faces.Bring a toy if you can, and helpus wrap presents for those inneed.” GNFK’s Paul Hundle.”We are looking forward topeople coming together for onecommon cause, giving to thosein need.”If you would like more informationcontact Garry Grewal at 604-250-2222.
