On the side lines of the 18th Group of 20 Summit (G20 Summit) being held in Delhi, India, Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi met. After the G-20 Summit meet concluded, PM Trudeau addressed a press conference in Delhi where he answered questions on Khalistan and said, “Canada will always defend freedom of expression, freedom of conscience, and freedom of peaceful protest and it is extremely important to us.. at the same time we are always there to prevent violence and to push back against hatred. I think on the issue of the community, it is important to remember that the actions of the few do not represent the entire community or Canada. The flip side of it, we also highlighted the importance of respecting the rule of law and we did talk about foreign interference.”

Conservative Party Leader Poilievre met with the members of the Punjabi Press Club of B.C. in Surrey this week. When a reporter from Omni TV asked him about his stand on Khalistan movement, Poilievre said, “Personally I believe in a united India, as I believe in a united Canada. But I believe people also have the freedom to disagree. If you believe in Khalistan cause, you have the freedom to express yourself. Just like Quebec separatists have the freedom to express themselves in Canada. I want Canada to be the freest country on earth. You can express any opinion, even opinions I don’t agree with, and those opinions have to be expressed peacefully, but they can be freely expressed.”
