Legendry female educationist SardarniInderjit Kaur passes away

SardarniInderjit Kaur, wife of legendary writer late GianiGirdit Singh, passed away on January 27th, 2022 at the age of 98. A gathering was organized on January 30th in memory of the distinguished educationist by Canadian Ramgarhia Society. SardarniInderjitwas an inspiration and legend. Her life was full of many achievements that will be inspiration for many generations to come.

became the first female vice chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala from 1975 to 77. This was the first time any women in India was appointed at this post.

She was also the first chairperson of Staff Selection Commission, a top all-India recruiting agency for Government of India from 1980-1985. She was also the only woman serving on Khalsa College Amritsar Governing Council from 1950-53.

Beside serving as professor and principal of various colleges in Punjab, she participated in international conferences as well. At the time of partition in 1947, she became activist secretary of Mata Sahib Kaur Dal to rehabilitate the influx of refugees and organized self defence training for women refugees.

SardarniInderjit and her husband are an integral part of our virsa and virasat. World known writer and photo journalist S. Jaiteg Sigh Anant ji eulogized the achievements of the legendry woman who set an example for being first female educationist in distinguished academic fields. Everybody in attendance wished from Akal Purakh for the well-being of the departed soul and give strength to the family for bearing the great loss.
