Underworld don Ejaz Lakdawala’s close aide Mohammed Yousuf was arrested by the Delhi Police on March 18.

JALANDHAR – Five Jalandhar sharpshooters were to get Rs 10 lakh to allegedly eliminate three prominent businessmen of Delhi and Mumbai.

The revelations came to the fore during the interrogation of underworld don Ejaz Lakdawala’s close aide Mohammed Yousuf alias Mian.

Lakdawala is a former associate of Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Rajan. The police confirmed that the Punjab shooters were not in direct link of don Lakdawala as they were hired by Yusuf.

Yousuf was arrested by the Delhi police on March 18 following which the role of five Jalandhar-based shooters came to the fore. They are Rajinder Singh alias Sonu, Mandeep, Swaran, Nikka and Binder, all residents of Jalandhar and nearby villages in Phagwara.

Sources said Yusuf was on way to Punjab to get release Sonu, but the former was nabbed by the Delhi police. Sonu is lodged at Kapurthala jail under the NDPS Act.

A day after the arrest of Yusuf, a team of the Delhi police led by KPS Malhotra, ACP, conducted raids in Jalandhar and Kapurthala on March 19 to trace the whereabouts of the four remaining sharpshooters.

A Delhi police officer said: “We interrogated Sonu at the Kapurthala jail on March 20. He confessed that he and his four aides were hired by Yusuf to kill a Delhi footwear group owner, a builder and a sweet shop owner of Mumbai against a payment of Rs 10 lakh.”

Malhotra confirmed the development and said if required, Sonu would be brought on production warrant to Delhi. “We are keeping tabs on four aides of Sonu,” he added.
