NRI’s Names Deleted From Terrorists’ List, Police Tells HC

CHANDIGARH – A monthafter the Punjab Police told thePunjab and Haryana High Courtthat the names of people goingabroad during the days of militancyin Punjab were mentionedin the list of terrorists, thepolice told the court that it haddeleted the name of one suchvictim.Taking up a petition by ShingaraSingh for direction to the policeto delete his name from the listof “non-hardcore terrorists” inpolice records at the Behrampolice station (Nawanshahr),Punjab law officer produced aletter in Justice RC Gupta’scourt.The letter from Punjab AIG(Intelligence) to the SSP said:“As recommended by you, nameof Shingara Singh, resident ofBehram police station, is herebydeleted from the list of nonhardcoreterrorists.”
