OMNI Television To Launch National newscasts Starting Nov. 7

TORONTO – Expanding its diverse array of multilingual news programming, OMNI Television announced the addition of three national newscasts to bring Cantonese, Mandarin, and Punjabi-speaking viewers even closer to news that matters to these growing language communities five days a week.  Launching Monday, Nov. 7, the new half-hour OMNI NEWS: Cantonese National Edition and OMNI NEWS: Mandarin National Edition shine a light on the day’s most important news every Monday-Friday from a national and international perspective.  The new half-hour Punjabi National Edition launches Monday, Nov. 14.

The new national newscasts will focus on international stories of the day while expanding upon local stories at the heart of each region to ones of national interest across Canada.  The regional newscasts following the national editions will continue to focus on local segments in each market following the day’s news in sports, immigration, health, lifestyle, entertainment and regional weather.

“With the expansion of our acclaimed regional newscasts to the national level, we are connecting communities and cultivating a national voice” said Madeline Ziniak, National Vice President, OMNI Television. “Providing broader coverage of news and in-depth stories that matter most to our viewers once again demonstrates our commitment to programming reflective of Canada’s diversity.”
