People Wishing To Work In Either India Or Fiji To Pay tax In One Country

SUVA – The people of Fiji and India who wish to work in either of the two countries will only pay tax in one country in the near future.

The Indian and Fijian government representatives have met to discuss about the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement in Fiji.

The Indian High Commissioner to Fiji, Vinod Kumar said second round of negotiations were held in between the Indian Delegation led by Joint Secretary of Indian Finance Ministry K Ramalingam and the Chief Executive Officer of Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority, Jitoko Tikolevu.

Kumar said talks have been positive and people and companies from both the countries will benefit from the agreement.

Kumar said the agreement is expected to be signed in a few months times.

Meanwhile, he said Fiji and India have also discussed on possible training of officers from Fiji in International taxation and further cooperation between both sides.
