Sikhs for Justice has already filed a human rights case against Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal’s father Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal, which has also listed Sukhbir Badal as a defendant, even offering $20,000 award for serving the senior Badal, who cancelled his visit to USA last month.  Sikhs seeking Justice and Human Rights activist are preparing to make a “Citizen’s arrest” and present him in U.S. Courts as a defendant. Sukhbir Badal was due to visit Canada next month but it remains to be seen if he will again cancel this visit as he did one last year.

TORONTO –  Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), which recently opened a Canadian branch of their human rights organization, could be seeking the arrest of Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, who is due to visit Canada next month.

SFJ filed a human rights case against junior Badal’s father Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal, which has also listed Sukhbir Badal as a defendant, even offering $20,000 award for serving the senior Badal, who cancelled his visit to USA last month.

Sikhs seeking Justice and Human Rights activist are preparing to make a “Citizen’s arrest” and present him in U.S. Courts as a defendant.

Canadian laws on Citizen’s arrest and Self Defence act landed former US President George W. Bush in Calgary courts in March 2010, under the “Nuremberg principles”, which states “any person who commits an act which constitutes torture on human Rights is responsible, therefore liable to punishment, the fact that local internal law does not impose a penalty for an act which constitutes a crime under international law does not relieve the person who committed or associated with the act from responsibility under international law, where a moral choice was in fact possible to him, to avoid such acts, which is supported by Canada, under United Nations UNHCR act.

Sukhbir Badal canceled his visit to Canada last year, to which the Deputy Chief Minister acknowledged that he acted upon the knowledge that some people may begin action against him in Canada. He is again skeptical on his visit in September.

While pro-Akali groups are looking forward to his visit but Sukhbir Badal is in a dilemma whether to continue with his Canada plans or again cancel them to avoid any hassles and possible embarrassment stemming from organizations courting his arrest.

While Sikhs for Justice hasn’t officially began action against Sukhbir Badal ahead of his scheduled Canadian visit but the threat remains that junior Badal won’t be greeted with all applause and large gatherings like his cousin Manpreet Badal was during his visit last year ahead of the Punjab elections, which was swept by Akali-BJP forces.

Media reports suggest that South Asian Human Rights activists have offered themselves to Sikhs for Justice to be assigned a role to make a ‘Citizens arrest” of Sukhbir Badal over the arrest and treatment of death-row convicts Prof. Davinderpal Singh Bhullar and Balwant Singh Rajoana.

Sukhbir Badal has been advised by lawyers under current circumstances and heading the Home Portfolio with “criminally-tainted” DGP S. S. Saini, could fall in the Citizen’s arrest laws of Canada.”

Major Sikh Gurudwaras in Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and Surrey are preparing a Memorandum, with plans to protest against Deputy Chief Minister for NRI-Property issues, illegal occupancy of lands and residential properties by Land Mafia, proclaimed Offenders, under False cases, instigated by Punjab Police.

Pro-Khalistan Associations also would like to take up the re-opening of  ”Fake Encounters of Punjab” cases during the 1980′s, with the Home Minister of Punjab.

There is overall resentment among NRIs in Canada from Punjab who do not see the SAD-BJP Government as pro-NRI in any matter.

Majority of them wish to dispose of their properties in Punjab, since their children are no longer interested to settle in Punjab, due to the poor education system and economic future and no jobs.
