RECIPE: Lentils Or Daal Seekh Kebabs

kebabs are veryhealthy and rich inprotein and can beserved with corianderand mint (pudina)chutney. It makes fora perfect vegetariansnack idea for parties.Ingredients:Moong Dal – 1/2cupChanna Dal- 1/2cupPotato – 1/2boiled and gratedOnion – 1 (grated)Dried FenugreekLeaves – 1/2 tablespoonSalt – to tasteGinger garlicpaste – 1/2 tablespoonCoriander powder- 1 teaspoonTurmeric powder – 1/8 teaspoonCumin powder – 1 teaspoonRed chilli powder- 1 teaspoonGaram Masala powder – 1 teaspoonGreen chilies – 2 (minced)Gram flour- 2 tablespoonOil- for greasing (I used olive oil)Method:Clean, wash and boil the moong daland channa dal in 2 cups of water untillthe dal is soft and cooked and all the waterhas evaporated.Combine the cooked dal with therest of the ingredients and mix well.Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions.Using a thick seekh (metal /woodenskewer/toothpick), press each portion ofthe dal mixture on it using your fingers tomake kebab.Brush each kebab with oil.Heat oil in a pan and cook kebabsuntill both sides are brown.Serve hot with yoghurt or chutney.Notes:These kebabs can also be cooked oncharcoal or an electric barbecue.Other dals/lentils like urad dal,masoor dal can also be used.If using wooden skewer, soak themin water for atleast 2 hours. This will notburn the skewers.Different grated vegetables can alsobe used.
