CHANDIGARH – A thief decamped with Rs 1.5 lakh, $3,000 and a traveller’s cheque from a Colonel’s house in Sector 33 while the family was sleeping. The incident took place on the night of March 27.
According to the police, Kulwant Singh, in his complaint to the police, stated that his sister, Ravinder Kaur, had arrived from Canada on March 27.
Ravinder was sleeping in a room with his other sister when the thief entered the room through a window and stole a purse, which was kept in an almirah.
The thief stole Rs 1.5 lakh, $3,000 and a traveller’s cheque for $1,000. All other items kept in the purse were found strewn in the next room.
The family came to know about the theft in the morning after which it informed the police.
A case has been registered at the Sector 34 police station.
