Since 1920 Bellingham’s favorite traditional hometown parade Blossomtime Parade has taken place to celebrate the community and its rich history.  Many things have changed over the years but the theme has echoed the same message of community, fun and celebration.  There are High School marching bands, antique cars and trucks, police and fire vehicles along with clowns in little cars, dance groups and many floats. This year was very special for the growing Sikh community as they put on a great show of culture and religion.  Many marched in the parade while others displayed weapons demonstrations and Gatka.  The Sikh Motorcycle Club also made their presence felt.  The young and old came together and celebrated their religion in their new community.  They also won the “Grand Sweepstakes Award-Most Outstanding Float” prize which was given to the Gurmat Khalsa Punjabi School which runs from the Gurdwara Guru Nanak Parkash on Smith Road whose sevadaars, Sukhwinder Singh, Suba Singh and head priest Jaswinder Singh, also marched in the parade.
