A birthday that will always be remembered as the death anniversary.
Two young brothers from India who were on a work visa in Canada died
in a road crash in Brampton on February 8. One of them was born on
the same day.
According to media reports, three men Reetik Chabra (Age 23) his brother
Rohan Chabra (Age 22), and their friend Gaurav (Age 24), were travelling in a
Volkswagen Jetta when they met a car crash on Bovaird Drive, east of
Chinguacousy Road.
Initial reports suggested that it was a single-vehicle collision where a car had
crashed into a pole. But later Peel Region police said that it was a two-vehicle
collision. The second vehicle, a Nissan Altima, was subsequently located
abandoned at a gas station near the scene, and a man believed to be the
driver of that vehicle was arrested at a residence, informed the police.
"Based on the condition of the vehicle, we associated that with the crash here.
Evidence at the scene confirmed that," Peel region police official said, adding
that the man could at least face charges of three counts of failure to remain to
cause death.
According to police speeding could have been the reason behind the crash.
Although police have yet confirmed the identities of the dead, media reports in
India and Canada published pictures of the three men.
The police's working theory is that the two vehicles travelling west on Bovaird Drive
were involved in a high-speed interaction. "The sequence of events, how they came into
contact, that's all part of the investigation from our Major Collision Bureau," police said.
According to Tribune, the Chabra brothers came to Canada from Chandigarh
as students. Global news said that the brothers were on a work visa and were
working as barbers in a saloon after their studies.
Having moved to Canada more than two and a half years ago, the
Chhabra brothers had built a life in the bustling city of Toronto. Reetik,

the elder of the two, had paved the way for the immigration of his
younger brother, Rohan, who joined him later.
Rohan was just newly married in India few months ago and was planning on
brining his wife to Canada. Rohan’s parents are now here to collect the
remains of their dead sons, informed a fundraiser.
The fundraiser is created by Rohan’s cousin, Himanshu Chaudhary to raise
funds to cover the funeral cost of Reetik and Rohan and transfer cost of
Gaurav’s body to India.
The fundraiser mentioned “During this harrowing time, we are faced with the
immediate and pressing challenge of managing funeral arrangements for
Reetik, Rohan and the repatriation of Gaurav's body to India, where his family
is mourning. The financial implications of these arrangements are
overwhelming, compounding our grief with a sense of helplessness. In this
moment of dire need, we humbly ask for your support. Your donation, no
matter the size, will significantly alleviate the financial burden on our families,
enabling us to provide Reetik, Rohan, and Gaurav with the respectful farewell
they deserve. It's a way to honor their memory and support their grieving
families in both Canada and India. Gaurav's approx. expenses for transferring
the body to India would be around $12,000 and the funeral cost for Reetik and
Rohan would be approx. $16,000 ($8,000 each). We have raised the Goal to
$65,000 approx, so that the remaining amount would go to their parents.
Reetik and Rohan's mom and dad landed in Canada on10th February around
8:00 am. “We arranged their transfer and they are currently living with me and
my family in Brampton. The funeral date is still to be decided, However, the
Funeral will be conducted at Brampton Crematorium & Visitation Center,”
Himanshu informed.
