BATHINDA – In a case of alleged honour killing, two brothers were murdered in broad daylight at Jhandu Ke village.

The incident took place when Resham Singh and his brothers Lachman Singh and Bahadur Singh were on their way to a local court on a motorcycle. They were allegedly attacked with sharp-edged weapons by Maghar Singh, his sons Gamdur Singh alias Kali and Gori Singh and three unidentified persons.

Lachman and Bahadur died on the spot while Resham Singh was critically injured. He was taken to Adesh Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

Sources said Resham Singh, who belonged to a Ramgarhia family, had a relationship with a girl of a Jat family.

The girl’s family married her to a resident of Tamkot village. But the lovers eloped and got married. Both families were fighting a legal battle on the matter.

Indermohan Singh Bhatti, Senior Superintendent of Police, said they had registered a case of murder against the girl’s grandfather, father, an uncle and an unidentified person.
