Typist Gets One Month Jail Time For Larceny

Ashna Kumar stole $1,362.50 from the school fees levies, the property of Arya Samaj Primary School in Suva, from January to February 2009.

SUVA – A 22-year-old typist has been sentenced to one month imprisonment for 14 counts of larceny by servant. Ashna Kumar appeared before Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili and pleaded guilty to all counts.

The court heard that between January to February 2009, Kumar stole $1,362.50 from the school fees levies, the property of Arya Samaj Primary School in Suva.

In mitigation she admitted the offence, and said that she is married with one child.
