3 Kabaddi Players Held For Robberies

SANGRUR – Three kabaddi players among five persons were arrested from Jakhepal village near Sunam, for their alleged involvement in robbery cases.

The alleged gang kingpin, Parminder Singh alias Tiger, was wanted in six criminal cases registered against him at Dehlon, Rureke Kalan, Gurdaspur, Sherpur and Tarn Taran.

Pritpal Singh Thind, SSP, Sangrur, said on a tip-off, a team of the Sherpur police and the CIA Staff, Bahadur Singh Wala, raided an abandoned place near Sherpur yesterday. He said they had information that five armed looters were planning to commit a crime.

The police nabbed Parminder of Tarn Taran, Gurwinder Singh alias Sunny of Sherpur, Harmail Singh, Harpinder Singh and Lakhvir Singh, all kabaddi players Sunam. The police have reportedly seized two pistols, four cartridges, two baseball bats, an iron rod, gold ornaments, Rs60,000, two motorcycles and two mobile phone hand sets.
