AMRITSAR – The SGPC has filed a petition in the Supreme Court against jokes on Sikhs. SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said the SC had been approached to pass directions for a ban on cracking jokes on Sikhs.

There have been complaints from the community that sometimes intolerable jokes were uploaded on social media and websites which hurt Sikh sentiments.

The committee has submitted that many websites and portals had been flashing obnoxious and indecent jokes on Sikhs, hurting the psyche of the community and making them an object of ridicule.
