AMRITSAR – Fromnow on, any PhD studentof the Guru Nanak Dev Universitywho wish to visit anyinstitute in Canada for researchwill be provided free returnticket by the university.This was announced todayby the Vice-Chancellor Prof ASBrar during the visit of KevinLamoureux, Member of Parliament,Winnipeg North, Canada,to the university for an interactionsession with thestudents.Kevin apprised the studentsthat like Punjab, the Winnipegstate of Canada is alsoan agriculture-based place. Hesaid, “The Punjabi communityhad contribution a lot to theeconomy of Canada.Punjabis are hard workerand they have achieved respectableplace in Canada. Even inthe hockey team of Canada,most of the players are Punjabis.”He emphasised that moreMoUs are needed to be signedbetween Guru Nanak DevUniversity and the institutesof higher education in Canada.“The major area of potentialin Canada is trade and tourism.The major source of income forthe Canadian Government isthe revenues collected throughtaxes,” he said.
