FEROZEPUR – A newborn was found abandoned in a ground near Shitla Mata Mandir.
Some children who were playing cricket heard the cries of the girl child. Later, they took the newborn to their house and informed the police. The child was rushed to a nearby hospital. Dr Sheel Sethi said the condition of the girl was stable.
DPS Kharbanda, DC, asked the Red Cross Society to bear the expenses of her treatment. He said the administration would take care of the newborn till she recovers and later she would be sent to the Government Child Adoption Centre in Faridkot.

Surinder Singh, SHO, said the police were not aware whether the deceased was beaten up by a policeman. He, however, said they would register a case on the basis of a statement of the victim’s kin.
