Santa And The Easter Bunny Join Forces With Other Fictional Characters For Childish Fun And Games

By ALAN SAMUEL

Not since the days of Freddy Krueger and the chilling Nightmare on Elm Street series have bed time moments come into the mainstream.  Parents and children will be yearning to see Rise of the Guardians, a wonderful family fable steeped in tradition.  Smart beyond belief this wayward journey from Dreamworks Studios has unbelievable flair and a fun quotient second to none.  Perfect for any time of year Rise of the Guardians is now enchanting audiences at the Empire Studio 12, Colossus and Cineplex Odeon Theatres around B.C.

Slick animation and surprisingly good 3-D effects make this Dolby stereo engineered flick an unqualified winner.  Here the story is king and the brainchilds of this masterpiece have returned to our childhood youths.  All kids have heard of The Tooth Fairy, The Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and the odd fairy or two.  Oh, and let’s not forget Jack Frost. You won’t get a chilly reaction when all these figments of our imagination spring to life and into action to save the day.

What’s at stake in Rise of the Guardians is simply the end of dreams and childhood and all the good things that go with growing up.  Our make-believe heroes are not about to let our imaginations and hope go bye bye when an evil witch type lord decides he wants to rid the world of all good things and good times.  Joined in the battle for our minds and souls Rise of the Guardians shows the importance of teamwork alongside hope and fair play.

Impressive voice work from the talented Chris Pine, Alec Baldwin, Ilsa Fisher and Hugh Jackman contribute immensely to this pleasurable movie and they all seem to be having a grand old time.  Good versus evil is a theme common in many movies and in Rise of the Guardians we have an exhilarating quest for survival involving humans and fantasy figures that will leave audiences simply in awe.

Clever writing and gorgeous visually stunning cinematography showing hope amidst all the doom and gloom help  make this 97 minute movie a complete joy ride that young and old will thoroughly enjoy.  Long faces will disappear once you don those stupid glasses that will help illuminate a terrific fairy tale come to life as only the creative geniuses at Dreamworks Pictures could conjure up.
