Deeply moved by the devastating aftermath of Cyclone Winston, Sue Hammell, MLA of Surrey-Green Timbers, used her time in the Legislature last week to bring attention to the crisis in Fiji and to ask for the province to help with disaster relief. $100 000 has now been pledged by the BC government to aid in the rebuilding of affected areas. In attendance with Sue at a March 12th banquet to benefit the aid effort in Fiji was the Minister of Trade and Tourism for Fiji, Faiyaz Koya, local community leader Netani Gucake and businessman and philanthropist Bobby Naicker.
