ABBOTSFORD – Abbotsford police have issued another warning of continuing gang conflicts in the Lower Mainland, particularly the city’s Townline area which saw yet another murder of a young Indo-Canadian last week, which are likely to impac public safety.

Police say its increasingly likely that the people who are taking part in the conflicts will become victims of violence.

They say those affiliated with gangs are also putting other people in their lives – like friends and family – at risk.

Emergency crews and police were dispatched to a residential street in Abbotsford Monday morning after a shooting.

Given the escalating situation, Abbotsford police are encouraging anyone with information to call their Gang Tip Line or Crime Stoppers.

Last week, the LINK reported that Satkar Singh Sidhu was murdered in a targeted killing which is linked to other gang violence that has happened in Abbotsford’s Townline area.

Sidhu, 23, did not have a criminal record but was known to police, but it is believed the murder was targeted and is linked to other gang violence that has happened in the area.

In a statement, Cpl. Meghan Foster of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said it’s fortunate no one else was injured in the shooting, which happened in a residential neighbourhood.

“Having association to or involvement with the gang life comes with many risks,” she said. “There are people who have information about what happened, and they need to step forward.”

Three young males were taken into custody but were released from custody, and are not facing any criminal charges.
