Akal Academy To Hold Fundraising Dinner On June 15 For Akal University

SURREY – The Akal Academy of Surrey will be hosting a fundraising dinner to raise funds for Akal University on Saturday, June 15 at Surrey’s Grand Taj Banquet Hall. The university’s construction is progressing with four of the eight blocks completed. The first phase is slated to open in July 2014.

The event will be held in the main hall from 6 to 9 p.m. People will enjoy performances by students of the Akal Academy and a documentary film outlining the many endeavours that society has undertaken. There will be guest speakers including local and international dignitaries who will be speaking on the importance of education along with their own personal experiences.  It is sure to be a meaningful and enjoyable evening.

The fundraising program has been put together with the objective of raising funds for The Akal University Guru Kanshi. The Kalgidhar Society is establishing an International Center for Comparative Religious Studies. One major aspect will be the college of comparative study of religions with the objective of translating the Gurbani into various major languages of the world in the form of hymns so that as people can sing the Gurbani in the Guru Granth Sahib in the form of kirtan in their own way.  In addition, The University will develop collaborative academic programs with domestic and foreign universities for new and novel technologies and co-operative programs with local, national and international industries, as well as develop training programs to fulfill the manpower needs of Punjabi, Indian, and international corporations.

The Kalgidhar Society spends millions of dollars on education, healthcare, social welfare and rehabilitation. The Society has been working tirelessly to fulfill its mission of providing support and resources to those in need.
