Ambedkar’s Grandson Slams Punjab Govt Promoting Drug Abuse

ABOHAR – Prakash Yashwant Ambedkar, grandson of Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar and national president of the Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh (BBM), has slammed the state government for “promoting” drug abuse among the youth. That was a new mode of corruption, he said. The menace could devastate the social fabric of the state, he warned.

He was the chief guest at a national seminar on “Dr BR Ambedkar: A pioneer of social justice and designer of political paradigm”. The seminar, sponsored by the University Grants Commission, was organised by Gopi Chand Arya Mahila College here on Saturday. College chairman Dev Mittar Ahuja, Principal Dr Neelam Arun Mittu and Panjab University Syndic Dr Sanjeev Kumar Arora welcomed the dignitaries.

The speakers included Prof Ronaki Ram, Director, Indian Council of Social Sciences Research, Prof PS Verma, former chairperson of the Department of Political Science at Panjab University, KS Sulekh, a close associate of Dr Ambedkar, Satish Sharma, Dean, Himachal Pradesh University, and Madhukar Dwivedi, veteran journalist from Bhopal.
