PATIALA – Following intervention by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, the police have formed a special investigating team (SIT) to probe the double murder of party leader Jaspal Kaur Dharni and her son Ajit Singh Ginny.
After attending Dharni’s ‘bhog’ ceremony on Monday, SAD leader Jagir Kaur had said she would take up the matter with the CM. Dharni was the SAD’s Patiala women wing president while Jagir Kaur is the unit’s state in charge.
Jagir Kaur confirmed that she met the CM, who then called up Patiala Zone IG Paramjit Gill. “I asked the CM to ask for a detailed probe into the murders as the crime had disheartened the women cadre in the SAD,” she said. She said the CM had told the IG to get a detailed probe conducted.
Gill said the Patiala range DIG would head the SIT, with Patiala SSP, SP (city), Rajpura DSP and CIA in charge being its other members.
