BJP Youth Leader Held With Opium

FATEHGARH SAHIB – The district police arrested Neeraj Arora alias Shalley, vice-president of the Bharatiya Yuva Morcha, Fatehgarh Sahib, along with his accomplice Bhagwan Singh for allegedly possessing 1.5 kg of opium.

Both were held during checking of vehicles at a naka.

Jatinder Singh Khaira, SSP, said they had launched a campaign against drug peddlers and anti-social elements in the district. He said during a naka on GT Road at Mandi Gobindgarh, a police team intercepted a Ford Ikon Car (PB-39C-0977), but the driver tried to flee. The police team managed to stop them. During a search of the vehicle, 1.5 kg of opium was seized from their custody. He said both occupants were booked under the NDPS Act. “We are investigating the matter to find out from where they got the opium and to whom they were going to deliver it,” he said.

Manoj Kumar Gupta. Mandal president, Sirhind, said Neeraj of Nai Abadi, Sirhind, was nominated as VP of District Yuva Morcha, but at present, he had no link with the party. He was removed from the party a few months ago after he came to know about his illegal activities.

In another case, the police arrested four persons who were involved in stealing trucks carrying iron material in Mandi Gobindgarh.
