Amar Dhesi, who is only 16 years old, won the Junior heavyweight wrestling championship which was open to anyone from any country at last weekend’s Guru Nanak Sports Tournament. Dhesi then competed in the men’s open wrestling championship which is again open to anyone. In the men’s division he made it to the final.  This is the first time that any 16 year old has ever made it to the final of an open men’s wrestling championship either in Canada or India.  The open tournament is known as the (Patka Match).  The match was won by 19 year old Sunny Dhinsa who wrestles in the 120 kg weight class and won the Greco Roman Canadian Championship last year. Dhinsa wrestles at the Guru Gobind Singh Wrestling Club. Kabaddi Open cup was won by Young Kabaddi Club.
