Congress Charges Majithia Organising Criminal Gangs

AMRITSAR – The Congress today alleged the ruling SADwas organising criminal gangs to exploit them against politicalopponents and Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithiawas “playing a key role in mobilising criminals” in the state.In a statement, former ministers Sukhdev Shebajpuri,Gurchet Bhullar, Sardool Singh and Parminder Sandhublamed Majithia for violence in the panchayat elections,which witnessed killing of at least seven Congress workersand leaders, besides attacks on candidates who opposedSAD nominees.They alleged involvement of Youth AkaliDal, headed by Majithia, in the killing of an ASI at Amritsarwhile saving the modesty of his daughter was glaring evidenceof shelter given to criminals by him.Majithia, however,claimed that the Congress had unleashed this campaignagainst him as he put forth the facts regarding the ‘shamlat’land deal involving PPCC chief Partap Singh Bajwa.
