CHANDIGARH – With Akalis outmaneuvering the Congress on different issues (especially the SYL issue) during the ongoing Vidhan Sabha session, the Congress legislators today alleged that the Punjab government was eavesdropping to ascertain their strategy on the floor of the House and outside.

Alleging that mobile phones of at least 17 MLAs were being tapped, Leader of Opposition Charanjit Singh Channi said he raised the issue with senior party leaders.

Citing the issue of amendment to the SYL Bill, asking for returning of land to the farmers, Channi said it was their agenda that had been hijacked. With divisions within the Congress, another party leader did not rule out the possibility of the party being leaked out to the treasury benches.
