Cricket Legend Kapil Dev Releases We The Sikhs Book At Surrey Launch

Indian cricket legend Kapil Dev attended a packed Press conference at Surrey’s Sheraton Guildford hotel to launch his passion project, the esteemed book We The Sikhs to commemorate Guru Nanak’s 550th birth Anniversary. The man known as Kapil Paaji impressed the crowd for his passion for the book and the worldwide Sikh community. The book highlights Gurdwaras and their histories from India to around the world including Pakistan as well as Canada. The beautifully produced coffee table book is much in demand, having sold out its initial printing run, including 5000 books just in the US. Kapil Dev and his team just finished touring the US before coming to Vancouver. The book, which is locally sponsored by businessman Jatinder Jay Minhas, who purchased 1000 books priced at $150 and wants to order another 1000 books, is quickly becoming a collector’s item and second printing run is being organised as well as perhaps having a Punjabi edition of the book. Dhillon said he hope to continue his company’s long partnership with this and other projects. Also on the cards is the uber Bollywood director Kabir Khan’s upcoming film 83 on Kapil Paaji and his great 1983 team which won india it’s first Cricket World Cup. Kapil Paaji will be played by the dashing Ranveer Singh with Ammy Virk playing Sardar Balwinder Singh Sandhu, who has been very instrumental in getting all the 1983 cricketers together for this very special sports history film. “(The book) gives you an accurate history of the Sikh community from the times of its founder Sri Guru Nanak Sahib Ji in the 15 th century. Every major incident has been chronicled so that the future generation stays well-updated.”
