Did you know the Lower Mainland is one of the most diverse regions of the North America, with over 100 different spoken languages? Our communities are being joined by thousands of people from nearly every nation, culture, and ethnic group of the world. We are becoming more of a “tossed salad” than a “melting pot”.

The Lower Mainland has truly become a multi-cultural mosaic. As the multicultural population explodes, so do the opportunities and challenges.

Adjusting to this change is a challenge to our cities. As this happens we have become a part of the global village, a new phenomenon and a new reality. Some of us may wonder whether this change is beneficial to our families, businesses and communities. Is it a landmine or goldmine?

Diversity is a goldmine; engaging our multicultural communities can be an enriching experience. David can assure you that diversity is here to stay. It is not going to disappear and it will be here for good. Let’s get comfortable with it, and celebrate diversity.

One of the challenges facing our cities is encouraging people to embrace the diversity. Unfortunately, ignorance is among us and often leads towards stereotypes, racism, bullying and intolerance. If we want unity then we need to find ways to celebrate diversity, otherwise the result will be segregation.

In the cross-cultural temple tour, Feb 20 in Surrey/Richmond.  we will visit a Sikh temple, Hindu temple, Muslim mosque, Buddhist temple, Jewish Synagogue and a Christian Church.  To register please call or  email us [email protected]
